Planning and Planting
Students will plan how to plant a raised bed using the square-foot garden method. Students will start plants from seeds using a greenhouse and seed-starting humidity domes. Students will learn how to harden off seedlings and the amount to plant in a square foot.
Composting
Students will learn about different types of composting. The traditional composting of brown and greens and also worm composting.
Harvesting
Students will harvest from the garden they have taken care of and share the harvest with their families.
Preparation and Storage
When the harvest is abundant, students will learn the different ways to preserve food, for example freezing, canning, and dehydrating.
4x8 foot individual use garden bed
Each student will use a garden bed to grow, nurture and take of for the school year.
